The Dream to Model

Something to fall back on.

If you have an interest in Modelling, if you are a true Model, there will be no getting you away from the industry. You will always feel a need to contribute towards the field in some way or another. It is like a burning desire inside you just like any other profession brings out in those that love it. Modeling should be taken as seriously as any career. In the beginning you may find that your Modelling efforts only provide a part-time income and that it is necessary to supplement that income with other forms of employment. This, of course, creates scheduling conflicts that are unavoidable. You must decide for yourself if you can stick out the hard times for the potential of where a Modelling career might take you. It is very much like starting up a business of your own. There will be bumps along the way, but finally it is up to you to make it work before you can reap the rewards of all your hard work.

When I began my career in Modelling I never really had a clue where I would end up with it (Never mind the high fashion runways of Milan) or whether I would even make a living out of it. However, I was determined to try. At the time, I couldn’t even think of doing anything else with my life but Modelling. Being older and wiser, my parents did prompt me into thinking of something to fall back on. Makeup Artistry was the next thing on my list, so when I was back home from my tours I did take up a makeup, beauty therapy course at college. Having so much previous experience having my hair, nails, and make-up done all the time for various shoots and shows I was quite adept already.

My career choices went hand-in-hand to the point that I feel my experience in makeup, and the Modelling industry have been all part of one grand plan, and that is to have the opportunity to give back to the industry that served me so well in my younger years. A select few get the chance to remain as a Model, but realistically it would be silly to think you could sustain a career as a Model for sixty odd years of your life without having thought of something else to catch you when the work only comes occasionally.

There are so many other jobs involved in the Industry; makeup, hair, and beauty are one thing, but then you also have Photography, Editing, Dresser jobs, Designing, and Choreography just to name a few. The lists of opportunities are endless, and what better than someone with first-hand experience to remain involved in the industry in this way.
