The Best Make-up for Older Skin
Sometimes it’s hard to know which makeup is best for older skin. Brown spots to cover up and those little crow’s feet that catch the light are hard to cover with makeup made for younger skin. Makeup made especially for older skin is what you are looking for. It isn’t any more expensive and it can do a great job. Listed below are some of the best.
Yes, it’s true. We are all getting older and our skin isn’t what it used to be. I wouldn’t say make-up can turn back the clock but it can make our skin look fresher. Make up for older skin reflects particles of light so lines and imperfections are not as obvious. Your type of skin and how you apply make-up matters, too. If you have dry skin it accentuates fine lines but that can be remedied by foundation that contains humectants. They will absorb and hold moisture to your skin. If your skin is dry avoid any substance that contains salicylic acid.

A good product for older dry skin is (Physicians Formula Cashmere Wear Ultra Smoothing Bronzer) It costs about $15 at your drug store. If you see the word matte on any make-up, move on. Matte empathizes dryness and can cake in lines. Another good foundation is (MAC Cosmetics Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundation.) It’s about $30 at department stores.
You might want to try (Kimara Ahnert Creme Wear Blush) It is about $25 at your department store. Apply it with a damp sponge. For lips use the old trusty lip balm for a primer. It’s cheap and nothing is better. It will seal in moisture and it keeps your lipstick from caking.
If your eyelids are dry, use a cream shadow primer. A good one is (Sephora Collection Perfecting Eye Primer) abort $14 at your drug store or department store.
Retinol is the most recommended product you will find to help control wrinkles. It’s located in foundations and concealers. There is no research on how effective it is. Do keep using your night creams. Retinol absorbs the sun so always apply sun protection when using it. You can buy a foundation with sun protection such as (L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift Serum Absolute.) It’s $15 at your drug store.
If you are dealing with a dull complexion, a SPF can be added to your makeup as an evening and brightening treatment. Age spots or dark patches can become more visible with exposure to the sun. Try (Neutrogena Healthy Skin Compact Foundation SPF 55) It’s about $15 at your drugstore.
Start with a luminous foundation, then using a brush and a creamy concealer that matches your skin tone, paint over splotches and pat concealer on with your finger. It’s better and more natural than using a lighter concealer. They only make you look like you have light spots on your skin.
If you aren’t worried about sunspots and wrinkles, skip all the makeup, but be sure to always use plenty of sunblock to prevent skin cancer.

Some very helpful advice there, Ruby. I find I have got much lazier with makeup as I have got older. I should take a bit more care with it.

Very helpful article Ruby. I like the concealer tip. However, since I have always had freckles those sun or age spots fit right in since mine are small.
