Makeup Tips
The right makeup can turn you into a diva! Find out how.
From concealing flaws to adding a dash of glamour, makeup has come a long way. Makeup today is a necessary part of lifestyle. The right makeup can transform an ordinary woman into a dazzling diva. However, it’s important to keep in mind some basic rules of makeup so as to avoid disastrous results. With the supermarket shelves overflowing with a mind-boggling and tempting variety of cosmetics, the first step to ‘doing it right’ would be to choose the makeup items most suitable for you.
If you are blessed with normal skin, almost every type of cosmetic would suit your skin. While moisturizer-based foundation and face powder help to keep dry skin hydrated, water-based or gel-based foundation and matte face powder work best for oily skin. It is equally vital to choose the right shade of foundation and face powder, one which matches your skin tone rather than make it look ashen or darker. Make sure that the foundation blends perfectly, especially at the hairline and jaw line. To make the foundation last and look radiant, tap the made-up face with astringent.
The aim of the blusher is not to give patches of color to your cheeks. It is meant to make your cheeks glow and your cheekbones stand out. The best way to apply blusher is to make downward strokes with a soft brush from the hairline to the cheekbones.
When applying eyeliner, ensure that it is not too thick and there is no gap between the liner and the eyelid. It is better to apply a thin film of mascara and repeat if necessary rather than applying a single thick layer. Apply mascara very sparingly on the lower eyelid. Make sure that your eye-shadow grows lighter as it moves up and merges perfectly at the eyebrows.
The lip-liner, which keeps the lipstick from ‘bleeding’, should always be a shade darker than the lipstick. Follow it up with lipstick, liquid lip color or lip gloss. Light, frosty lipsticks make thin lips look fuller while too much shine or gloss doesn’t look particularly attractive on too full lips.
Also, make sure that the makeup suits the weather, time of day and occasion. Eyeliner and muted lipstick or lip gloss should be sufficient for the corporate woman while a heavy makeup would be a complete misfit on a summer morning. For evening parties, one can choose to indulge in heavy makeup.
