Macy’s Lipgloss at Walmart Prices

The cost of looking hot may may be cheaper than you think. For most gals, lipgloss purchases are made with money from the "disposable income" budget. In today’s fluxuating economy, you may not much of a lipgloss budget. Fortunately, you can purchase high-quality lipgloss for a fraction of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP).

My three favorite lipgloss brands are Lancome, Estee Lauder and Too Faced. They all have different  favorable characteristics, and yes, I own all three. So…What makes a great lipgloss?

It’s gotta be super shiny. It can’t have big sparkles that make me look like a stripper. The lipgloss has to have a moisturizer and must last a reasonable amount of time. I take off points for super stickiness, a funky taste or smell  and a bad applicator.

This brings me back to the brands I love. I want what I want. I just can’t afford to shell out 20 bucks a tube for my favorite brands. Do I settle for a lesser lipgloss? Well, I have tried a few. Then I found out how to buy my favorites for less…Often, at 75% less than the MSRP.  Here’s how it works:

Vendors from online auction houses like Ebay buy “shelf pulls” and promotional samples from high-end makeup manufacturers. These items become available when packaging changes, seasonal offerings or displays are discontinued, or when there are leftovers from a promotional campaign. They are first-quality items that you can buy for cents on the dollar.

So…Before you plunk down $20 for your next tube of lipgloss, look for it on an online auction site and don’t be surprised if you end up getting it for less than half of the MSRP, including shipping!
