If you’re looking for a fun idea for a girls’ night with your friends, why not host a makeover party? Chances are that many of your girlfriends would love an evening filled with snacks and cocktails, pampering spa treatments, and entirely new looks to boost spirits all around–and a party such as this is both easy and inexpensive to put together.

Plan Ahead

The first thing you should do when you decide to host a makeover party is to make a plan. Being organized will save you both time and money, and it will insure a better turnout of friends for the fun event that you’re planning. Decide what kinds of things you would like to include in your makeover party–do you want to focus on just one thing, make-up, for example? Or do you have a total makeover party in mind, one that includes the whole works? Figure out what your party will include, and jot down a list of things you will need to make your party a success, including makeover supplies, party favors, food, and drinks. Because it’s a makeover-themed party, you can have your guests bring some of their own items from home such as curling irons, hot rollers, combs, brushes, make-up, nail polish, and personal care tools. Make a list of the friends you would like to invite, and pick the date and time that you would like to have the party. It’s best to choose a day that’s at least a few weeks away so that you give your guests ample notice to save the date.

Send Out Invitations

Invitations should be sent out at least two weeks prior to the date you’ve selected to host the makeover party. On your invites, include the date and time of your party, your address, items that your friends should bring with them from home, the date to RSVP by, and your phone number.

Shop for Supplies

Before you head out to buy supplies, write down a shopping list so that you don’t end up buying more than you need, and look around your house to see what items you already have that will be useful for the party. Large bowls or plastic bins work well for spa treatments such as facials or pedicures, and you may have enough of them at home eliminating the need to buy them. A fun gathering doesn’t need to cost a fortune, and if your guests are bringing some of their own personal supplies with them, you shouldn’t have to go overboard. Check your local discount stores and beauty supply centers for things like hand mirrors, combs, nail files, make-up brushes, applicators, and other beauty supplies and tools. You can also find many coupons online, including Macys coupons, which will provide you with additional savings. You could put these types of items in gift bags and give them to your guests as party favors. Flower petals or sliced citrus fruits are nice to add to pedicure baths, so you may want to add them to your shopping list. A party isn’t a party without delicious appetizers and beverages, so take a grocery list along with you on your shopping trip so that you can pick up everything you need to provide snacks and drinks for your guests to enjoy during their makeovers.
