How to Keep Skin Clear of Acne

When your skin isn’t so bad that you need not take drastic measures such as using a prescription, what are the lesser steps you can do to have clear skin? Read on!

Not everyone needs Accutane or a heavy duty prescription to have clear, healthy skin.

Keep your skin clean.  Use a good cleansing soap, such as the Oil-Free Acne Wash from Neutrogena every morning and night.  No more than a dime size is needed or else you’ll dry out your skin.

Contrary to popular belief, acne prone skin does need some moisture.  You do not want to dry it out completely.  You may want to ask your doctor or a dermatologist for a good facial recomendation if you have extremely sensitive skin but generally the ones from Cetaphil or Neutrogena are a good bet.  In the morning, opt for one with an SPF to avoid skin damage.  At night, opt for a lotion that is light and moisturising.

Asprin masks.  Do these twice a week especially if you have redness issues.  Crush up about 4 uncoated Asprin pills and mix with some peroxide until you have a mixture you can apply to your face.  Don’t obsess about the mixture, it will do it’s job either way as long as it’s the Asprin was crushed well.  A good way to do this is to put the Asprin in a plastic bag and use a spoon to break them up.  Put this on your face for 10-15 minutes and then wash off with water.  You’ll notice your skin feels smoother and calmer in general.

Read up on other types of masks you can do for soothing purposes, or create your oil with products you know are good.  Products that are soothing include milk, oatmeal, jojoba oil, and honey.

Do not dry out your skin.  Do everything you can to hydrate it.  This actually does include drinking plenty of water yourself!

Keeping skin clear can be a hassle but chances are if you don’t need a prescription your skin will react very well to these types of steps!
