How to Give Yourself a Professional Manicure
Here’s how to give yourself a professional manicure.
- Use cotton balls and nail polish remover to remove old polish.
- Soak your fingertips in bowls of warm soapy water; this will soften your cuticles.
- Dry your hands, and smooth on a moisturizing lotion.
- Use an orange stick to gently push back your cuticles. If you don’t have an orange stick, the rounded end of your nail file can work.
- Use small, sharp manicure scissors to trim hang nails and loose skin around the cuticles.
- If you want to shorten your nails significantly, use a nail clipper or manicure scissors to cut them.
- Use an emery board to file your nails.
- For long lasting polish, apply a base coat, one or two coats of polish, and a top coat. Make sure each coat is dry before applying the other.
- Use a nail polish fixative, or allow your nails to dry naturally.
- Use a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover to carefully remove any stray polish.

That looks easy enough for me to try. It is expensive to get a manicure but I am so in the public, my hands must look good.
