How to Give Yourself a Professional Manicure

Here’s how to give yourself a professional manicure.

  1. Use cotton balls and nail polish remover to remove old polish.
  2. Soak your fingertips in bowls of warm soapy water; this will soften your cuticles.
  3. Dry your hands, and smooth on a moisturizing lotion.
  4. Use an orange stick to gently push back your cuticles. If you don’t have an orange stick, the rounded end of your nail file can work.
  5. Use small, sharp manicure scissors to trim hang nails and loose skin around the cuticles.
  6. If you want to shorten your nails significantly, use a nail clipper or manicure scissors to cut them.
  7. Use an emery board to file your nails.
  8. For long lasting polish, apply a base coat, one or two coats of polish, and a top coat. Make sure each coat is dry before applying the other.
  9. Use a nail polish fixative, or allow your nails to dry naturally.
  10. Use a cotton swab dipped in nail polish remover to carefully remove any stray polish.

That looks easy enough for me to try. It is expensive to get a manicure but I am so in the public, my hands must look good.
