You don’t want spots, You want to get rid of them.

Now, if you are reading this article then you really wanna know how to get rid of your spots. This guide will focus primarily on teenage spots brought on by the influx of hormones that rage around the body during puberty.

The two basic types of spots are generally called Whiteheads and Blackheads. Whiteheads are spots that are often raised up on the skin which causes a little bit of redness around the area of the spot. The spot itself will be white. This is called Pus, which is basically made of a lot of white blood cells. Pus may be disgusting to look at, but it is actually a sign of your body’s ability to fight infections. Pus means your white blood cells are attacking infections present on or in your body, which is what spots are: minor skin infections caused the the body’s Hormones.

How to remove Whiteheads:

The first step is to drink plenty of water. This hydrates the skin and removes its toxins, which in turn will help keep your whiteheads at bay. The second step is to wash your face every day with a mild cleanser. This will help remove the bacteria from the surface of your face. Another good idea is to gently steam your face to open up your pores and use a scrubber to help unclog them. Immediately after, apply an ice-cube to your face to close the pores and prevent anything else entering. The final two pieces of advice for removing Whiteheads are: Do not squeeze your spots! (This could lead to scarring) & Try not to touch your face! (This will help reduce the spread of bacteria and also helps you resist the temptation of squeezing the spots).

How to remove Blackheads:

The actual name for blackheads is open comedones, they usually lie under the skin so that it looks pitted. The cause of Blackheads is oily skin; the excess oil on the skin has blocked one the pores leading to a build up of oil which then reacts with oxygen in the air turning the colour Black, hence the name : Blackheads. Below are some tips for the prevention of blackheads:

  • Avoid using creamy, greasy, and thick (emollient) products. This alone will greatly lessen your chances of sprouting blackheads.
  • Use a gentle and water-soluble acne cleanser.
  • DO NOT use bar soap!!! The ingredients that hold soap in a bar form can clog the pores in your skin. They can also cause skin cells to flake off prematurely and clog the pores. If you have dry skin you will need to use a cleanser that has a bit of moisturizer in it, but be careful! The excess moisturizers can cause an increase in oil on your skin.

Actually removing the Backheads is a little different. Though the best way to remove blackheads is an area of contention, the most common method for getting rid of blackheads is to gently squeeze them. Removing the “stuff” inside of the blackhead helps the skin because you are relieving the pressure which causes the damage.
