Exfoliate without spending a fortune.

In this time of recession, spending on salons for our regular beauty fix can be a little bit painful on the pocket already. But of course, we cant sacrifice beauty for money right? So what does a girl do?

Use home-made beauty recipes! There are thousand of ways and since they are home-made and natural, you are assured that they are cheap, effective and wont do harm to your skin.

Back at home, this is my weekly pampering, scrubbing myself with honey and brown sugar and showering with hot water. Sugar has natural exfoliating properties because it contains glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acid in beauty products.

Meanwhile Honey is known for its many anti-oxidant properties. The combination will give you a natural glow and visible softer and smoother skin. I made a little addition and use a drop of lavender for a pleasant, spa-like aroma plus the Douglas scrub I bought.

Here is the beauty recipe.

Honey, Sugar and Lavender Scrub

  • 1/2 cup of honey
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • Drop of Lavender Oil or Fluid

Just mixed all together until you created a proper scrub that is not too liquid or too coarse.. If you are using pure lavender liquid, make sure to put only a little drop because it tends to have an overpowering smell that can be heady sometimes. You can always add a little more sugar or a little more honey if your mixture is too heavy. Scrub the whole body including the face. Let linger for about 10 minutes and shower with lukewarm water. It’s also very nice to soak in the tub while the scrub is on your body.
