Do you hate your new short haircut? Don’t get a wig yet. Try these four strategies for dealing with a bad short haircut instead.
It can be traumatic to cut off a long, full head of hair, and even more devastating when the cut doesn’t turn out right. All it takes is a little math to realize it will take several years to get that long, flowing head of hair back. Once the initial shock of having short hair subsides, it’s time to assess the damage. Maybe the haircut isn’t as bad as you originally thought. Or is it? Here are some tips on how to deal with a bad short haircut.
Get a Second Opinion
Going from long hair to short requires a period of adjustment. It can be hard to be objective after undergoing such a dramatic change. Try enlisting the opinion of a friend or family member you can count on to be objective and honest. You may discover that it looks far better than you originally thought. If not, at least you know the truth.
Get a Revision
Once you’re convinced your new short “do” doesn’t flatter, make an appointment to talk to your stylist. Let her know exactly what you don’t like about the new cut. Come armed with photos of what were really looking for. Together, you may be able to come up with a new way to style your short cut that will be more flattering. When you approach your hairstylist, be cordial and polite. Shouting obscenities at her for the chop job she did won’t solve the problem.
Revise Your Makeup
With so much face exposed, your current makeup may no longer work. After such a drastic change in hairstyle, you may need to completely reassess your makeup routine. Schedule an appointment for a professional makeup consultation or visit your favorite cosmetic counter for advice on how to enhance your new haircut. You may end up with a completely fresh perspective.
Play Up Your Ears
One of the biggest advantages of having a short haircut is that your earrings are no longer hidden by a mop of unruly hair. Take advantage of this by going earring shopping. Pick out some new styles that will flatter your face and hair. Go a little crazy and choose artsy or humorous styles that will really catch people’s eyes. Enjoy the fact that you can make a statement with the earrings you wear when you have short hair. Don’t forget about hair jewelry. Decorative bobby pins, combs, and hair bands can give your short hair a whole new look.
Keep your chin up! With a little time, you may find that bad short haircut isn’t nearly as bad you thought.

That was a really enjoyable article with alot of inspirational ideas on what to do. I once accidently got a “summer cut” which left me nearly bald. I never had it so short and had to go to the city to work the following week. It was so embarassing. It took nine months to get short after that!!

Bald is quite simple–only require clipper, some nerve–and action!–do you know what I mean?
