Can a Maxiglide Really Straighten Natural African American Hair? The answer is yes and with great results!
I cannot remember exactly what age my mother started relaxing my hair but I do know I hated to do it each month. After graduating high school, I decided to take matters into my own hands and stop applying this harsh chemical to my hair. The result was a healthy afro which I proudly wear. However, ever so often, I felt the need to wear my hair straighten. I had decided to invest in a hair straightener. I read several reviews before deciding on the Maxiglide first. It was just what I needed to get the job done. Here is my Maxiglide hair straighener review.
Before using the Maxiglide, I had washed. While my hair was still under the shower, I used my fingers and a wide tooth comb to detangle my hair. I quickly sectioning my hair into about 12 braids so that my hair could airdry. Since I was going to use the Maxiglide to straighten my hair, I did not want to apply too much heat by using the hair dryer or blow dryer. As soon as my hair was dried, I took down my braids, spraying each one with heat protectant. Taking a small about of curl wax, I applied it to the roots and ends of my hair. I used the Maxiglide at setting 4 and with only three swipes, my hair was straighten.
I was rather pleased with the results. The Maxiglide actually straighten my afro and my hair seemed as if it had a fresh relaxer. When I washed my hair, there was no sign of heat damaged. Remember, using the wrong products and too much heat can damage natural hair beyond repair. I used the right products such as a heat protectant and curl wax, made sure my ends and roots were fully protected with these products, and I airdried my hair.
Overall, I love my Maxiglide hair straigtener. Even though I am tempted to try other brands such as the Chi, I will continue to use the Maxiglide to straigthen my natural hair. I enjoy reading tips from other Maxiglide users!

I think your hair is very beautiful but do you already have a nice texture of hair so that it is easy for you to go natural and my hair has already been relaxed. I wonder could my hair look like yours natural.

Cassie,
I transitioned from relaxed to natural for an entire year. I then cut off the relaxed ends and have been natural ever since. I didn’t know what my texture was going to be like, but I must say that no two textures are the same. You might end up with more than one texture on your head. I have 4 different textures. The key to taming your hair is to find out which products will work best for your hair. What works for one person’s hair may or may not work for yours. Take a look at my blog (www.indulgenceiskey.blogspot.com) to see pictures and videos of my hair and other natural beauties.

The picture isn’t mine but it resembles what my hair looks like.
My hair was relaxed the majority of my childhood. I only stopped putting relaxers in my hair about 3 yrs ago. It wasn’t easy because I had to find what was right for my hair (products, etc.)
Your hair can only look like mine if:
1. It’s part of your genes.
2.If you haven’t inherit the genes for this hair type, you will have to use products/chemicals and hair appliances to achieve this look.
Thanks for your comments, Cassie Williams and Indulgenceiskey!
