The best way to protect our beautiful hair from damage.

Very often to swim can have a variety impacts of damaged hair. Hair becomes stiff, coarse and brittle due to the chlorine in swimming pool. Therefore, hair cares before and after swimming is very important to maintain our healthy hair. So, how the best way to protect your beautiful hair from damage?

Swimming pools usually contain high levels of certain chemicals, especially chlorine, to keep the water free from viruses and bacteria. Unfortunately, such high levels of chlorine can adversely affect the hair. Oxidizing agent in the chlorine can remove the hair of moisture, making it dry, brittle, easily broken, and the edges are branched. The steps that we can do to protect our hair is as follow:

Wetting the hair
Dry hair acts like a sponge so it comes in contact with moisture. Strands of hair absorb moisture quickly and deeply. So, the best way to protect your hair before swimming is to wet the hair thoroughly with water containing no chlorine. That way, the hair will absorbs the “safe” water. Once you dive into the pool, the hair will be too saturated with water to absorb the chlorine. In addition, it helps if you get out of the pool every 30 minutes to rinse your hair with chlorine-free water. This is useful for keeping the hair against chlorine saturation point up to a maximum point, especially if you intend to swim in a long time.

Conditioner
Another way to protect hair from chlorine dangers are coating with a thin wash of conditioner or oil before swimming. Rub just a little conditioner, baby oil, coconut oil, or olive oil to the hair before going to the pool. The oil will repel water and seal the hair shaft cuticle, by acting as a barrier between the hairs chlorinated water. If you want more practicable you can use spray conditioner. Conditioner protects our hair to avoid dryness. Apply conditioner to the hair below the ears to the tip of the hair.

Hair braid
If you have long hair, before doing the activity in the water, braid your hair first. By braiding the hair, the pool water will be obstructed and difficult to penetrate into every strand of hair. After the braids, spray your hair with conditioner spray for completely protected.

Sunblock / sunscreen for hair
Use a sunblock for hair. Sunblock will protect your hair in the sun, so that is not easily cracked and dry.

Swimming cap
Perhaps the easiest way to avoid hair damage caused by chlorine is to use the swimming cap. Headgear made of rubber. It will keep hair safe from the chemicals in the water.

Wash hair
Each finished swimming, be sure to rinse immediately the hair using a warm chlorine-free water for three to five minutes. After that, wash your hair thoroughly with clarifying shampoo or an afterswim shampoo. Afterswim shampoo work to remove all residual chlorine and salt water when you swim, so to minimize hair damage. Dry the hair with a towel, apply a leave-in conditioner, then use a wide-toothed comb to flatten the entire strand of hair.

Serum
After a half-dry hair, use a hair serum to restore luster and reduce the adverse affects such as branching and loss of hair after swimming.

That was the steps to protect your hair from damage caused by too frequent swimming. Good luck.
