The right way to wash your hair.

Washing your hair might seem like a simple enough process but most of us are actually doing more harm than good when we wash our hair!

If you want to avoid damaging your hair then there are some rules that you should follow.

1.       Comb your hair before you wash it.

This will mean that you don’t have to work the shampoo and conditioner through your tangled hair and it will also mean that the conditioner has a better chance to penetrate the hair shaft because it is not trying to untangle the hair before it does.

2.       Avoid moving it when it’s wet.

Wet hair is fragile and so all movement should be minimised when the hair is wet. Don’t scrub at your scalp with your fingertips when you are shampooing, gently massage it into the hair and let the shampoo do the work.

3.       Remove excess water.

Remove the excess water from your hair before applying your conditioner, this will stop the water from diluting the conditioner and will give it a better chance to work its way into the hair.

4.       Don’t rub.

Once you have washed and conditioned your hair then gently squeeze out the water and wrap it in a towel, do not rub your hair with the towel as this will damage the cuticle, simply pat it dry gently.

These tips should help your hair feel and look softer and healthier.
