Signs to Change or Add to Your Beauty Routine: Hairstyle

Getting into the new you.
Signs you need a new COLOR

- Your color has lightened (from sun exposure, etc.) and turned brassy.
- Huge re-growth
- Your look has turned dull and you want to spice it up.
- Your hair is badly damaged from all the coloring. You may want to give it a break and revert to your natural hair color (even for a while).
- To enhance your features. For example, very black hair on mestizas may look too severe, while blonde hair washes out yellow tone skin.
How to ease into it:
Go to a colorist. Fortunately, most salons now have stylists whose main expertise is hair coloring. Doing at-home coloring used to work only for touch-ups. But now, with easy-to-use but high quality at-home hair coloring products has never been easier. But don’t expect your hair to turn exactly the same color as that the model pictured in a box. Asian hair is much different, darker. On the side of box, you’ll be guided by a color chart. I recommended at-home coloring for simple all-over color. But for more complicated two- to four- color ‘do, complete with highlights andlow-lights, a pro is highly needed.
Factors to consider:
- Skin tone
- Natural hair color
- Personality
- Lifestyle. Constant sun exposure can turn hair color lighter-consider this when you go for blonde streaks!
Signs you need to change your CUT

- You’ve had the same haircut for at least five years.
- You go to the same stylist. Or even if you don’t, you just ask for a trim each time (meaning you retain the cut).
- You’ve had the same styling process for years-because you’ve been styling the same style!
- People never notice if you’ve had a haircut.
- If you keep tying your hair, it means you’re trying to hide something.
How to ease into it:
Go to seasoned, highly trained stylist who will give you the chops that work with your hair’s texture, the length you want, and the style you can actually manage. Showing a photo of Sienna’s bob will not work exactly-you don’t have the same hair-but it’s okay to do so if you want to give your stylist an “idea”. Depending on how trained he is, he will just adjust the bob according to your hair and face shape. That’s why we cannot stress this enough: go to a good stylist. Paying a few hundreds more for your new ‘do will be worth it.
Factors to consider:
- Face shape
- Hair texture
- Personality. Your new ‘do should still complement who you really are.
- Lifestyle: Do you have the time to style a high-maintenance, high-style cut?
