What are Dreadlocks?

Dreadlocks also called dreads or locks, heavy matted coils of hairs fusing together to form a single dread. It can also be intentionally formed; because of the variety of different hair textures, various methods are used to encourage the formation of locks such as twisting or a process involving the weaving of the hair with a crochet needle to form knots.

How to Keep your dreadslocks clean

Here some tips how to keep your dreadlock clean. There are a few things you will need to keep in mind while washing your dreadlocks.

  1. Use a shampoo or a low lather shampoo, make sure that the  water is either tepid or cool so as not to melt wax that you may have in your dreadlocks.
  2. Dreadlocks make you prone to dandruff, so use a products that tend to your scalp. And dont use conditioner it might lossen your dreads.
  3. Use a smooth cloth or bedsheet to blot after squeezing the excess water out of your dreads, Don’t use towels because may leave fuzz in your hair.
  4. Let your hair dry completely; then start waxing and twisting.
