A bad hair day can be inconvenient especially when you need to look your best. Here are some tips on how to deal with uncooperative hair.

We all have days when our hair looks so bad we just want to stuff it under a cap and be done with it. But that’s not a practical solution if you’re heading off to work or to another place where you need to be presentable. That’s why you need solutions for bad hair days when your hair has a mind of its own. Here’s how to survive a bad hair day:

Use a Clarifying Shampoo

Hair that looks limp and lackluster is frequently caused by hair product buildup. If you have time to shampoo again before you leave the house, use a clarifying shampoo to remove any excess product that may be weighing your hair down. Sometimes this can be an immediate cure for hair that’s misbehaving.

Pull it into a Loose Pony Tail or Bun.

If you hair is longer, a loose pony tail or bun with a few tendrils hanging down the sides of your face can be a flattering look and will draw attention towards your face and away from your hair. This is also a quick and simple hair style that’ll have you out the door in ten minutes.

Use a Dry Shampoo.

If you wake up too late to wash and style your hair and its limp and oily, use a dry, spray on shampoo to refresh your hair and remove some of the oil and buildup. If you don’t have dry shampoo on hand, you can substitute cornstarch which can be a bit messy but effective in restoring body to your hair. Dab the cornstarch onto the oily areas of your hair and gently brush through. Your hair should look less oily immediately.

Harness the Power of Hair Gels

If you have short hair, use gel to slick your hair back off your face. This can give even lackluster hair a clean, chic look. Put on some interesting earrings to draw the eye away from your hair and you’re ready to go.

Use a Curling Iron

If your hair looks limp, use a curling iron to give it some body and wave. Finish off with a light coating of hair spray to help hold the style during the day. Limp hair needs a little help to hold a curl.

Add Some Hair Accessories or a Cap.

If you don’t have to go to work and you have an informal day planned, pull your hair into a ponytail and wear a baseball cap to hide your bad hair. If you have to go to the office, consider using some pretty hair accessories such as hair sticks, hair forks, barrettes, or combs to disguise your less than perfect hair. These accessories can be used to pull your hair back or lift it into an upswept style.

With a little bit of ingenuity and a few tricks, you can survive even an extremely bad hair day. Next time your hair doesn’t cooperate, give these tips a try!
