Hair Care… The Future?

What does it take to grow hair at an abnormal rate – and why would we want too?

Isn’t the new pixie hair cut all the rage now? And if you’re like me and envy Ashlee Simpson, Natalie Portman and Keira Knightly’s effortless yet perfect attempt at looking like a woman of the forest then you’re probably in my position right now.

Back in August my hair was past my breasts, thick and bright red (another trend i attempted, with some success. However i am now in the awkward stage of dying/growing it out). It had taken me years to grow it back to its natural glory after a mishap at the hairdressers left me with hair around the ears – not flattering to the face. During the summer i had it cut to my shoulders, which i loved. It was still luscious, thick and very vibrant. However, like all hair-glory, the change went to my head. After the cut i bleached it from red, dyed it orange, then pink, then orange again, bleached my naturally brown roots so i had half yellow half orange hair (which sounds awful but looked rather amazing). This - paired with constant heat-tools i had started to punish my innocent hair with – took its ammonia-ridden toll on my hair. In short, my hair was more than dead. I kept having it constantly styled and reshaped into Victoria Beckham style bobs, but no dice. I dyed it brown in an effort to cover up all that bleach and red – but had a setback in a failed attempt to dye it blue, which it came out black.

After seeing Ashlee Simpson’s cool, new crop i decided to finally get all those dead ends off. I figured if the pixie cut is trendy, then it should look more or less okay on me. Verdict: Umm… maybe.

So…

Now i look like a pixie. Thinking back to my first hairdresser mishap (you thought i would have learned) it did certainly look better – i have indeed lost weight on my face so my features are accentuated. Also, the array colors in my hair are showing up in natural highlights – brunette at the back in the shortest of strands, copper up above near the crown, purple around the sides and blue in the front (obviously you can’t see all these colors at once, only when the light shines on the black, even so they are not vibrant at all).
