Try these simple at home beauty tips not just for your body, but for your mind and soul. Read on to know how to detox and rejuvenate yourself. Learn how to make quick face and hair packs at home. Do your own pedicure and manicure. You will end up not just looking beautiful but feeling beautiful too!! Discover a new you in just eight days.
So lets talk about being beautiful this time, one of my most worked upon hobby. My mantra is ‘do-it-yourself-at home-all natural’. . You have pampered your face and hair, but just that much is not enough. Having a healthy body and mind is just as important for you to look good. It enhances the way you look and feel.
These are simple beauty tips that might help you prepare for a big day – maybe a function, a party, a date or some special occasion. You just need to plan a week ahead of the event. Follow this simple regime for eight days. I did this before my own wedding, its tried and tested.

Day 8 – Detox
Make sure you get your Vit C each day.
Here’s why – Vitamin C plays a significant role as an antioxidant and thus acts to protect your cells against the effects of free radicals, which are by-products that damage the body’s metabolism. It also is quite effective against wrinkles and fine lines.
Some natural sources of Vitamin C are:
Fruits
Orange, Lime, Sweet lime, Kiwi, Strawberry, Blackberries, Cantaloupe, Watermelon, Tomatoes, Peach, Bananas, Apples, Lemon, Grapes and so on
Vegetables
Artichoke, Asparagus, Avocado, Broccoli, Carrots, Cauliflower, Corn, Cucumber, Green Pepper, Kale, Lima, Beans, Mushrooms, Onions, Peas, Potatoes, Spinach, Sweet potato and so on

The best and the easiest way would be taking them in the form of fresh vegetable/ fruit juices.
Day 7 – Face It
Exfoliate your face every 2 days.
Here’s how – A homemade scrub of bread crumbs and milk would work. Or you could try some coarsely crushed almonds / walnuts along with some semolina (suji) with milk. Massage gently this will make the dead skin cells on your face roll off along with the scrub. Rinse with warm water.
Then apply a basic face pack of yogurt and chickpea flour (besen). Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse your skin with cold water.
Important: Do apply face packs / moisturizers to neck also along with your face. You don’t want just your face to glow and the neck to look patchy!

Try the age old technique of placing cucumber slices on eyes for dark circles. Cucumber has cooling properties and will relax your eyes too. Potato slices are another option.Just ten minutes will do the trick. Do this religiously for the rest of the days. It works!!
Day 6 – Let Your Hair Down
Its time to work on those tresses.
Massage a mixture of almond and olive oil into hair and scalp. Wrap hair with hot towel for a few minutes so that the oil seeps deep into the roots of your hair. After half hour, shampoo as usual. Do this before every shampoo. Your hair will get noticeably healthy and really really silky.

If you have dry fuzzy hair, please do not forget to condition them.
For homemade conditioner you may want to try combining mashed avocado with some coconut milk. Mix well. Apply this to hair and comb it through the hair to ensure even application. Wait for 10 -15 minutes, rinse out. Or take 1/4 cup vinegar added to 1 cup water use this as a final rinse. It leaves your hair soft and shiny.
You can read about Dandruff Control Home Remedies here.
Day 5 – Put Your Hands Together
Unkempt hands and feet are a very important aspect of grooming and are readily noticeable in public. So a quick manicure and pedicure is required.
Soak hands and feet in warm water to which some salt and a few drops of liquid soap are added. After 15 -20 minutes, use a pumic stone to rub away dead skin. Cut and shape nails. Rub nails with some oil to help nails grow strong and condition cuticles. Follow up with a generous massage with a good moisturiser.

Tip: Don’t paint the nails now, keep it for the last day so that your nail paint stays fresh and intact.
Day 4 – Rejuvenate
You can create a spa inside your own bathroom.
Add a few drops of any scented oil you like to a tub of water. For soft moisturised happy skin, add a cup of milk to it. Now play soft music, light candles and take a long soak-it helps!

You will definitely thank me for this one. It relaxes your mind and body, which obviously shows on your skin. Plus you will end up smelling good. A happy relaxed mind will help you think and work better too.
Day 3 – Get Pretty
Get all your waxing, bleaching, threading done now, just in case your skin reacts to any hair removal treatments! This is the final touch up needed. Also this will give you time to do other preparations needed on the day before the final event.
Oh, did you paint the nails??
Day 2 – All in a Day’s Work
Once you are done with all errands for the day, have a long bath and catch up on your sleep to rejuvenate and refresh your body and mind.

The Day
Relax, smile and enjoy yourself!

hey, i like the spa idea. i’ve taken milk and mud baths in spas before and each cost me a fortune. thanx for the info.
Though the hair oiling seems tedious, all the other tips are relatively easier and doable.

I think we all take ourselves for granted. And time is certainly not a luxury. Now this is something we can use. Being at this age, in my early 40’s, I’ve already got the law of gravity working against me. Surviving a horrific car accident and shortly after, Cancer with muliple surgeries, I am fighting with everything I’ve got to heal and maintain myself. This simple and natural plan of action is just what I need. The older I get, the more a learn it is the little things we do every day that makes the greatest impact. Thanks for the tip!

Facemaker, nice to know you liked the article and that you are going to use the tips in your parlour.
MamaKel, i concur when you say we take ourselves for granted. Its time to realize that time waits for none.
