Do You Make These Common Eyebrow Mistakes?

Your eyebrows provide a beautiful frame for your face. Don’t let these common eyebrow mistakes detract from your appearance.

Eyebrows provide an attractive frame and accent for your eyes. Unfortunately, many women don’t understand how to make the most of the eyebrows they were given. In fact, women are often guilty of either completely neglecting their eyebrows or, at the opposite extreme, becoming an overly aggressive eyebrow plucker. Neither extreme is particularly flattering. Here are some common eyebrow mistakes many women make:

Trying To Determine The Best Shape Yourself

Most women can use professional help in determining their best eyebrow shape initially. It’s worth the time and money to use the services of a professional eyebrow shaper to help you determine the best shape for your brows. Once you’ve had the initial shaping of your brows done professionally, you can do the maintenance at home as the plucked hairs grow back in. The shape of your eyebrows can have an enormous impact on the look of your eyes and your overall face shape. Make sure you know what shape will work best for your face and eyes.

Overplucking

Many women who don’t seek professional consultation for their eyebrows have a tendency to over pluck which can leave your face and eyes looking less defined and uninteresting. Eyebrows add interest and drama to the face. By plucking your brows too thin, your face and eyes can look dull and washed out. Plus, eyebrows can take time to grow back and, in some cases, don’t grow back at all after aggressive removal. The overall look in eyebrows has returned to a fuller, more natural look, away from the thin, highly arched eyebrows of the past. If you have naturally thick eyebrows, play them up. Many women would love to have them.

Bleaching

Some women lighten their hair and are tempted to bleach their eyebrows to match. This is generally not a good idea since the resulting color can be unpredictable. If your eyebrows are dark, you may end up with an unacceptable brassy shade when trying to lift them to blonde. Generally, if the contrast between your eyebrows and hair is so great that you need to bleach your brows, you’ve probably lightened your hair too much and may want to consider a more natural looking hair color. There’s nothing wrong with having your eyebrows a shade or two darker than your hair. This can actually be flattering to many women.

Using An Eye Pencil To Draw In Brows

Sparse eyebrows look too unnatural when they’re filled in with eye pencil. A better solution is to use an angled brush and brow powder to lightly apply color over the sparse areas of the brows, following the natural contour of the brow. If you have gaps in your brows, you can use an eye pencil to apply very light, feathery strokes to fill in the break before applying brow powder. Never pencil brows in heavily or draw a hard line.

Eyebrow mistakes can really detract from your overall appearance. By spending a bit of time determining your optimal brow shape, you can effective frame your eyes and open up your face so that you appear more youthful and polished.
