- Carefully remove old nail varnish. Choose an acetone free, conditioning nail polish remover to help prevent nails from drying out.
- Trim nails and file with an emery board. Make sure you file in the same direction and never use a metal file as this can damage the nail.
- Rub a small amount of cuticle cream into the nail beds and soak hands in warm water for five minutes to soften. Loosed and push back the cuticles with the round edge of a cuticle stick.
- Massage a nourishing hand cream into your hands. Dip cotton wool in warm water and rub over the nails to remove excess hand cream, to ensure that varnish applies evenly.
- Apply a clear bas coat and allow it to dry. This will stop the varnish from staining your nails.
- Apply two coats of your chosen nail varnish, allowing the first to dry for a couple of minutes before applying the second.
- Finish with a layer of clear top coat to give your nails extra shine and to help the varnish last longer.
- Sit back and relax. Try to allow around half an hour for the varnish to dry completely.
