Anti-aging, Age-rexia, Liposuction, Bulimia, Anorexia and many more, these expressions are maybe not totally understood for many of us us but they are surely the synonyms of today youth and beauty. The desperate efforts to stay flawless as long as possible can by all means be called a pure craze.

Why is it so? Why not only women but also men almost on equal bases are decide to put their health at stake and weaken their accounts substantially to stop or even turn back time? The answer is given on every page of colorful magazines and on TV. Power and success. It is not of prime importance if we take a business woman or a movie celebrity into consideration. We are surrounded by specialists giving us tips how to emphasize our best qualities and hide or get rid of flaws. Our insecurities become gold mine for specialists and whole bunch of liars.

We need to be cautious that nowadays beauty is a mighty business. Companies do whatever it takes to sell the products and beauty services. And so, anti-aging creams and hair dyes which cover totally gray hair are advertised by young, flawless teenagers and lots of magical formulas, often dangerous to our health and even lives, are praised by less or more popular public idols.

It is well dinned into our brains in every media that only beauty and youth have sense. People admit that it’s easier for their more-attractive younger co-workers to get promotions at work. Young attractive actresses get better roles and they speak in every interview what to do to obtain maximal attractiveness and keep it for long. Often young girls who fall victim to illusive beauty, end up suffering from various physical and psychological disorders. Many don’t realize the danger until it’s too late.

The situation is more grotesque with men. Years back what we considered masculine was hairy chest and everything that distinguishes them from women. Now in the name of misinterpreted gender equality what we call metrosexual qualities deprives our males of their original attractiveness. Beautician, loads of cosmetics, botox, and laser are on the top of the list of modern men beauty musts. As a results not only catwalks but also streets are crowded with effeminate males. By all means we all should take care of ourselves with the help of available means, yet it seems like the border between what’s really feminine and what’s masculine wears off dangerously fast.

I definitely can’t agree with famous fashion designer and beauty expert Coco Channel that: Youth something very new: 20 years ago nobody mentioned it”.By all means years back before the era of silicone and Photoshop we had much more respect for the elders, yet the craze for beauty was always there , though technology was not so developed and people were not that determined. Personally I remember that as a little girl I was told by my grandmother to always keep my face away from the sun to prevent early appearance of early wrinkles and to always put cream around my lips as lines in this part of the face look much worse than around eyes. So although I’m not planning on changing my body parts with the help of newest medicine, I do put sun blocker and extra part of cream around my lips.

Beauty and age, they are and always will be associated with constant fight. We fight for one and against the other, but it is indeed a total craze. Everybody wants to be surrounded by beautiful woman, men, children pets….. We all have our personal less or more sophisticated ways to stop time at least for a while. By all means it’s great to retain attractiveness as long as it harmonizes with health and common sense.
