In this economy, we’re all pinching our pockets and trying to find ways to cut down our spending. For us women who like to stay looking our best, this many mean no longer being able to visit the hair or nail salon as many times as you’d like. But have no fear, just because you might need to save some extra cash right now, you can still be beautiful by doing the same beauty routines at home, on your own.
Make a trip to a local beauty store or drug store, even a place like Wal-Mart, and best of all for us money savers out there – The Dollar Store! – they all carry the kind of products you need to get yourself primped and looking great, without the high prices associated with salons.
Of course, it might take some time to learn some of the skills involved if you’re really looking to get highlights, funky nail designs or some runway style makeup done, but other than that maintenance and the visits you make for upkeep every 2 week or 6 weeks can be lessened significantly.
If you get the tools for a home manicure or pedicure say, nail clippers, a file, and some polish, you’re talking 5 bucks tops and about 30 min. of your time to give yourself a few months worth of touch-ups to your fingers and toes.
Start out by soaking your hands and feet in some warm water, you can even add some mild soap or a fancy special made soak for this purpose (they’re not too pricey but not necessary either) Next, clip and file nails on fingers and toes so they are need and straight, push back cuticles, scrub any rough spots with a pumice (these can be purchased for less than $1). After drying hands and feet apply a polish allow to dry, apply clear coat, let dry sufficiently to avoid and smudging, and VIOLA!!!! No need to pay $40 or more for a salon mani. and pedi. When you can do it at home yourself!

When it comes to your hair, trimming dead ends is a cinch, and they sell many at home root-touch up products if you even need it at the store that range from just 4-10$ not too bad. Or, if you’re not in need of color, its easy to get a deep hydrating hair conditioner or hot oil treatment, either a sample package for one time use that runs a few dollars or less, or a bottle you can purchase to use other times as well that requires only a few minutes of your time after a shower to place into hair, wrap into a towel for 5-10min of deeper conditioning, and then rinsing with cool water – and VIOLA, no need for the salon – for sometime at least!
This same rule can apply to make-up application, and even waxing eye brows and upper lips, they sell a number of at home waxing units, just read the instructions and you’ll surely save hundreds of dollars by not going to the salon every few weeks and instead, just getting beautiful with do-it-yourself (DIY) at home beauty. And who can’t afford to save some extra cash these days?
