This explains a few ways of getting rid of unwanted hair.

For years women have been fighting the battle against body hair. There are many methods of hair removal. Shaving is the most common and the most annoying of all the methods. There are several options to help you fight this ongoing battle. Some of these options are just as easy as shaving and cost just as much. Then there are the more expensive ones that are a little more permanent but not completely.

One of the longest used methods is sugaring. This process is much like waxing without a lot of the pain. The mixture of two cups sugar, ¼ cup lemon juice, and ¼ cup water. Doesn’t stick to your skin the way wax does, it only sticks to the hair so when you pull off the cotton strips it pulls your hair not the top layer of skin. This is also the most “green” method you can find. If you want to try this recipe just warm the ingredients to 250 degrees (use a candy thermometer) then let it cool till it won’t burn your skin and put it in a re-heatable container so you can use it again.

Then off course there are those like Nair and Veet. That rely on chemicals to break down the proteins in your hairs so when you wipe away the goop you break the hairs. With these creams it is a lot like shaving where it breaks the hairs at the level of your skin. They don’t go any deeper and if you don’t leave it on long enough or apply it evenly you will have blotches of hair that you have to do again. The chemicals in these creams can sting and are not recommended for use on sensitive skin.

There is an old oriental way of “plucking” the hairs of your legs called threading. You will need 100% cotton thread for this one (another “green” option). You will need to tie one end loosely around your neck, with one hand you will make a loop with the thread and twist it several times. With your other hand you hold the loose end. Hold the twists to the leg hairs and pull up on the loose end of the thread at the same time you will rock back to keep the thread tight. As you lift the loose end it will move the twists and lock the hairs into the twists and pull the hairs out. This is much like plucking your legs and can last longer than the chemical creams.

For those with a little money to spend and want more permanent solution to hair removal there is Electrolysis hair removal. This is the only method approved by the FDA for a permanent hair removal solution. .This method uses an electric current with a needle like electrode. The electrode is injected into the hair follicle for about one minute to destroy the root. Since hair grows in several stages this process will need to be done several times for it to be the most effective. This method has the best track record but it is time consuming and painful. You will need anywhere from fifteen to thirty treatments for a small area of hair. It is also more expensive at $60 (average) for thirty minute treatment that covers a small area.

If you would still like to spend the money for a semi permanent solution with out all the pain there is laser hair removal. It is a medical procedures that uses the light of a laser (intense. Pulsating beam) to remove the hair. The laser looks under the skin for the dark pigment of the hair. When the heat from the light hit’s the hair it destroys the follicle instantly. The laser treatment sloes the growth of hair but you will need to ha a few treatment to get real results.

There are some methods that have been banned in the united states but here are also researchers looking for anew methods to treating unwanted hair growth. Maybe one day we will have another, more effective than these and there options not mentioned in this article but until. Them women all across the united states and some other countries have to keep fight the battles and maybe one day the ware will be won.
